wonder if propane...
Guys I wonder if let say I keep my fridge running while traveling and then for some reason it goes off ( the flame ) if the propane will continue to leak at the appliance or if there is some sort of safety to prevent that ? same question goes for the heater ? thanks

Both the heater and the fridge have a thermocouple or flame sensor that will shut off the gas if the flame goes out. The unit may try to relight several times before shutting down permanently.

Safety people tell you to turn off the propane before driving.. a fridge will hold the cold for up to 6 hours. IF you do travel with the propane on make sure you shut it off before you fuel up.. you don't want the pilot light coming on while you are in there with all the fuel fumes...

Has anyone heard of an accident at the fuel pump because of the refrigerator?

It's rare but it has happened. Do Google searches. The naysayers will come up with reasons that it will never happen to them...

The new frigs are all electronic and have flame sensors. So if you lose flame, the controls will shut down the solenoid to keep the propane from leaking out. Mine will try to light three times. After the third attempt the frig will blink an orange light, telling me there was a problem. Unfortunately it is up to me to determine what the problem is.

Actually I have not seen this version of the propane question before.

Have used the fridge while traveling for 12 years. We do shot it off while fueling.

I was referring to the inevitable discussion/debate about traveling with propane on.
That's true, I haven't seen anyone ask about what happens to the propane flow when the flame dies. Felt like that was adequately answered and was waiting for the debate to rage on...

Actually, that is/was a great question. I'm not sure that's common knowledge. It could happen whether parked in a CG or using the propane on the road.

My take on not shutting off your propane appliances before you approach a fueling station is that in keeping them on you are most likely violating local fire regulations/ordinance/laws. Remember that others may be fueling as you approach. You are not the only customer.
This why I say the above:

Outside of any legal constraint it IS A MATTER OF PREFERENCE.

Then all law abiding citizens should be shutting off all propane devices while fueling. Most local governments adopt the International Fire Code into their ordinances, similar to how they adopt the National Electric Code. They do so rather than creating their own documents.
Chapter 23 Motor Fuel - of the International Fire Code (IFC) calls for all ignition sources within 25 feet of a fueling operation to be turned off.
Codes and Standards | ICC publicACCESS
Research the local codes. Anywhere that the IFC is adopted by local jurisdictions then those who exercise the right of preference to keep propane refrigeration operating during a fueling operation are in violation of local ordinance (laws).
An example for Fort Worth. Other communities use similar language for IFC.
