2015 International Rally

Just talked to the Jayco Jafari Travel Club office to pay my fees for the international rally in Amana, IA. I have already signed up and paid a deposit, but she told me not to pay the remainder just yet because they only have 33 units signed up to attend. If they don't get at least 70 units, they will probably cancel the Rally.

If you intend to go but haven't done so yet, contact them and sign up asap. If you haven't made up your mind whether or not to attend, think it over carefully and think about some good times and renewing old acquaintances. The rallys are lots of fun and this one is a good base station for touring the Amana Colonies. Lots of history and really good food in all the Colony communities.

Hope to see you there!

I hope they improve the road to the campground before the rally. We stopped there last year on the way back from the West. Beautiful campground, no doubt, but the road getting there left something to be desired. Part of it was concrete and it had the dips-do's in it. I couldn't find a good speed to stop the bouncing. Maybe we took the wrong road to get there off I-80. I mentioned the condition of the road checking in and they admitted it was not real good. However, IF I were going to the rally, that wouldn't stop me. Maybe the truck, trailer wheel base combination was just not right.

You don't have to be a member to go, they just add the $35.00 to your Rally Fees. So if any non-member is interested you can still sign up.

At a JAYCO Rally I think you would have a revolt if they went primitive.

We are also 1 of the 33. I hope they get their 70! We're looking forward to it! If not, we'll stay there anyway. The CG rate is under $30 per night.

I just paid the balance for the Jayco International Rally this summer. They currently have 55 units signed up. She said they would like to get at least 70 units if they can. The rally is definitely on.

Is Jayco behind the Rally or is it just the club having a camp-out.

I would be more inclined to attend if Jayco hosted a yearly rally at the factory with factory tours, seminars with vendors, stuff fixed free at Jayco, Lippert & other vendors. Free retrofits 4 fixes & new designs.

I was wondering the same thing. FROG Rally does this (Forest River) every year in Goshen. If Jayco doesn't, they should.

Agreed. The Rv park is right on I-80 and I grew up 15 miles from there. Not my idea of ever lasting memory. However going to Middlebury might prompt me.

Well, just to keep the record straight, here are some details:
Jayco Travel Club Jayco Travel Club - 2015 Jayco International Rally Tour

is the promoter of the Jayco Rally. One of the first announcements to the "first timers" gathering was this might be the last rally they will put on for Jayco. They also indicated they were working on a location for the 2016 rally around Memphis.
Jayco has very little to do with it. They provided a couple of continental breakfasts and the final dinner. 2 representatives (towable sales) stopped by to address the crowd on the first night. They had a difficult time answering questions and left for Sturgis before the gathering was over. So, no possibility of engaging in conversations.
There were 3 vendors in attendance if you wanted to buy something to improve your trailer ride or cleaning your rig.
Some attendees were told by Jayco customer service prior to the rally that they (Jayco) would have techs on hand to do fixes.......NOT.
The Amana Colonies CG is approximately 12 miles north of I-80 in a beautiful country, farm setting with a wonderful rich history.
Yes, we attended this rally.
Yes, we would attend another one if sponsored and SUPPORTED by Jayco in Indiana near the factory.
Forrest River really knows how to support their customers with a rally.

If Jayco wants to keep up, they might had better step up their game and take notes. I'm not a FR fan, but like you said, they do know how to support their customers with a rally.

Forrest River really knows how to support their customers with a rally.
A little history:

Actually "Recreational Club Management" is the Rally promoter and they have been since the club's start. They also do the Starcraft Rallies and have managed those since 1979. The owners worked directly for Coachman doing rallies before starting their own company. At one time they did Hitchhiker, Shasta, Sunnybrook, Georgie Boy, and several others. After the economy collapsed many manufacturers including JAYCO/STARCRAFT quit putting money into the rallies and it was just recently that they again started to pay for some of the meals. They use to provide funding for entertainment and other activities as well.

Unfortunately with all the mergers, bankruptcies etc in the RV industry many companies no longer do any clubs. You have to remember Forest River has the financial backing of Berkshire Hathaway (Warren Buffett) where as JAYCO is still totally family owned. Granted they are making money, but not anywhere near the amount Forest River does with it's multitude of brands.

You also have to look at the Rally numbers, Jayco was lucky to get 65 units for the rally this year, Starcraft pulled in 113. At one time a Starcraft Rally would have as many as 600 units (Canada 1978) with an average being in the 300's. The last few years both clubs have been hard pressed to reach 150. We actually did a JAYCO/STARCRAFT Joint Rally in Douglas Wyoming in 2011 and didn't even get 200 units combined.

As to service techs being at a Rally that hasn't happened for numerous years, again because of the economic collapse.

The wife and I have attended the STARCRAFT rallies since 1976 (missing only 4) and we have also attended a couple JAYCO rallies after they bought STARCRAFT. I can tell you with a 100% certainty that 95% of the people who attend do so because of the friendships that have been made over the years and for no other reason. Yes we are hoping for more company involvement, but it's absence has not be the attendance deterrent. Unfortunately the younger generation do not attend rallies because their children are so involved with sports and other school activities which continue all summer.

Off my soapbox....
