30-amp service to a 50-amp EMS?

I have a Precept designed to use a 50 amp power connection. Suppose I find myself in an RV park site that only provides 30 amp. I have a dogbone adaptor that will feed the two legs of the downstream "50 amp" connection, in parallel. I recognize that this will only provide a fraction of the power than a 50 amp connection would, but it would be better than nothing. Now, what I am wondering is: Can I make safe and productive use of my Progressive Industries EMS-PT50C, downstream from the dogbone? What readings will it give?

We have had 50 amp campers since 2005, always just used dog bone. Only problem we can only run one ac at a time.Do not know about EMS-PT50C. Thanks

You would have to read what points the 50A EMS monitors but I suspect not. A 50A RV connection is 120/240V where L1-N is 120V and L2-N is 120V and L1-L2 is 240V. The 30A is 120V L1-N.

If the 50A EMS monitors line voltage between L1-L2 it will be 0V on the 50A using a dogbone adapter. The dogbone jumpers L1 to L2 on the 50A cord end. If it only monitors L1-N and L2-N it should work.

Edit: Looked at the specs and it appears that the PT50-C only monitors L1-N and L2-N so should work fine with a dogbone adapter.

Still 120v on the line so no issue. I run my Seneca on 30 amps all the time. Just have to be careful as there is less than a 1/3 of the available amperage available (50 amp has 2 legs of 50 amps for a total of 100 amps, where 30 amp only has one leg of 30 amp). You will need to be careful what you run at one time, i.e. one AC at a time, microwave, etc..
