7-way outlet problems

I was recently having an issue with no right turn-signal from my Jayco Embark to my Ford Explorer. I bulb tested all the connections from the Seven way to the 4 way and everything lit up but the turn signal. So I replaced the diodes in the Ford and that worked for a while then it stopped. Now I have a right turn-signal again but no Left turn signal. But the big difference is that I have no power from the 7 way except for the right turn signal. The connections seem tight so I am thinking a fuse problem but I have no idea where it is. And it is also possible that the previous problem is not even related to this current problem. Any thoughts?

Had a similar problem with my ford and my left signal... Under the right rear wheel well is a wiring harness... I had one wire slightly out... Not saying that this is your problem, but might be... It's like finding a needle in a haystack.

Corrosion on the plug? I had that problem. Fixed it by shooting battery terminal cleaner in the plug washing it out then adding di-electric grease to the plug..

Is there a seperate fuse for each rear turn signal circuit?

In the off season, pull the relay and fuse that sends 12V to the 7 pin connector. I learned on the F150 forum that having the receptacle powered up all the time with voltage on the pins can accelerate corrosion. My contacts in the the receptacle on my truck still look shiny and new after 3 Michigan winters and I pull the fuse and relay after my final camping trip in the fall.

Great advice. I am seeing a little corrosion on the power pin (I think) of the 7 way plug

That's what I am trying to determine, I have been looking for fuses but no luck so far. Going back to the rig in a few minutes to take another look.

On my ford f150 the fuse is in a compartment beside the battery

Your Exploder owners manual should show the locations of the fuse boxes/power distribution center along with a description of what each fuse and position serves.

Mystery Solved! The problem was a bad fuse after all. Except it was in the box labeled "chassis". I was looking in the box labeled trailer.

It cost me $138.00 in labor to find out.

Lesson Learned!
