7Pin Wiring for Tent Trailers
Hey there
I've searched the 'net and briefly in the forums, but have not been able to find a definitive answer for this, so my apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere!
My understanding is that normally the 7th pin is for "Auxillary items" and is commonly used for backup lights on large trailers.
What's the 7th pin used for in a Jayco tent trailer?
(4 for lights, 1 for brake, 1 for power and...?)

I recently rewired my trailer connector, the previous owner's seller had changed it from the original 6 pin to a 4 pin. I "upgraded" to a 7 pin, since that's what I installed on my truck. When I wired the trailer side connector, there was no wire to connect for the center pin, commonly the reverse lights.
<TL/DR> nothing, at least on my trailer.

I just realized there is a tech forum and that this question should likely have been posted there. Moderators, sorry!!!
I will post over there for a wiring diagram - maybe that'll help explain what I'm looking for.

No problem at all. This was a good place to start being specific to a tent trailer.
It will be good practice for me to move your thread over to the Tech Talk.

It may not be wired to anything. Since most "prewired" tow vehicles come with a 7 pin connector JAYCO uses one for simplicity.

usually the middle pin is not used for anything in the RV trailers. Some have adapted this Auxliliary unused pin for back-up lights.
The 7th wire is not connected to anything in my Starcraft 14RT OFF-ROAD TRAILER. Mine has a twist-on yellow connector covering the single wire end in the trailer cable wiring junction box...

I just went out and checked the factory installed 7 pin connector on my 2012 Ford F150 w/HD tow package. The center pin is set up for "Back-up" lights from the factory.. Just tested it with the volt meter.. works as designed..

In my experience I have never seen a TV connector where the center pin was NOT for backup lights. Also, I have never seen a camper that has used the center pin.

Jayco finally confirmed for me - the wiring diagram on the tent trailer shows the center "aux" pin as "vacant".
