AZ residents can all tell you that trying to cool anything here in the day is nigh on impossible if it has soaked up the heat. The split ( difference between air in and out temps) is all the repair guys look at. I have realy good home unit and the split tonight is 75 in 56 out or ~ 19 Deg. If your split is any wher near that your doing GREAT.
The MASS you have to bring down and the energy transfer capability of the air ( humidity ) really drives how log that takes. We had a power failure here in mid summer due to a storm and the house soaked in at 105 for over 5 days. Took nearly 3 days for the floors to be back to normal ( on a slab).
Just remember its a dry heat
... Did not have AC in a car for the first 10 years I lived here... Wow that was stupid...
