Anybody run solar wire in a 25RKS?
I have a 2012 25RKS. I am in the middle of installing solar panels and am having trouble figuring out how to get the wires from the panels down below so I can run them to the charge controller. I just figured I would use the vent pipe for the bathtub, but I finally really took a look at that and the vent is pretty hard to get to. It is accessible in the access panel, but it's right behind a framing stud and hard to see much of it. If that's it, I will figure out a way. But I thought I would ask here first. Any better ideas? How about good ideas for sealing off the hole in the vent pipe after you get the wires out?
Thanks,
Wayne

I used a sealed junction box and went through the roof.. (OK its not an 25RKS) but the same applies to any RV. Some people have gone down through the fridge vent..

Sean, where did your wires come through? A closet? Fridge isn't an option, it's too far back and it's in the slide. Anybody else?

I had the wires come down through an interior wall by the door. That was for the display monitor panels. If I was doing it again I would bring it down through the front bedroom closet.

Different Approach

I had a hard enough time talking myself into drilling 8 holes in the roof to mount the solar panel, so I decided that since I needed to go from the back of the TT to the front cap, I would try a different approach.
The solar panel is mounted near the back of the TT, and I used a 3/4" WHITE self-stick plastic wire raceway (buy at Lowes) to protect the wire. I stuck a piece of the race way between the solar panel and the side of the TT; I then secured a few lengths of race-way on the side of the TT right under the awning.
To get down from the roof line into the storage compartment, I stuck a piece of the race-way next to the awning’s vertical mounting near the front of the TT, and drilled a hole on the inside of the race-way into the front storage area where the MPPT charge controller is mounted.
After 7K+ miles it is still as good as the day I mounted it, and there is room to add the wire from the next solar panel that I will soon be be mounting. The best part of this is that no one has even noticed the race-way on the side of the TT.
I added a picture of the project to my SOLAR ALBUM, click on the link below.
Good Luck!
Don

Looks nice Don. I think that would be a better idea for the fiberglass sides than the aluminum like mine. I think I am going to try going down the vent pipe. Theory says it should be fine, right?? And I hear ya about putting the holes in the roof. I have been dragging my feet but the time has come. The brackets I had made had 3 anchor screw holes each. I put up two 158W dmsolar panels tonight and drove 24 screws. Ah well, it had to be done...
