Anyone heard of a 4 amp fuse?

I went to the dealer to replace the 4 amp fuse on our bathroom fan. There is a sticker that says.. use 4 amp fuse only.
Well the dealership tells me they have never heard of a 4 amp fuse...
hmmm .. now what?

If they do make them they must be quite rare. Do you know the model fan that it is, perhaps a call to see what they can suggest?

My suggestion is to take the blown fuse and match it up. Of course, it begs the question... what caused it to blow in the first place? Wrong fuse?

Is it a blade type or glass tube type?

It's a glass type fuse. It blew when our air conditioner quit working, so we think there was maybe a power surge or something. They were both running at the same time. It is called a create a breeze fan.. I am going to have to look through our trailer booklets and see if there is a handout.. sigh.. I just want to get this trailer sold

4 amp AGC fuse is common and you should be able to find in any good hardware, auto repair or marine repair store. These are not commonly used in the RV industry which is probaly why they dont stock them.

Most marine electronics use a low amp fuse as such to protect them.

Should get 5 in a pack for under $3.00.

Hope this helps

Radio Shack should sell 3 or 3.5 amp glass fuses. I use them in some of my 2 way radios.

Yay! ..thanks for the info.. I called around and found the AGC 4 amp at an electrical supply store. Then put on my reading glasses and confirmed that it says the same thing on the old fuse. looks like a black spot on the fuse wire so I guess thats where it died..

We also needed to get a new tire, and the dealership wanted $160..
my husband called a tire wholesaler and we got it for $49.00 installed on the rim.

This forum is soo helpful and saves us lots of $$

May want to check to see if it was a slow blo fuse or just a standard 3 agc fuse. If it is slow blo I would replace with the same.

Just be careful about the quality of some of those cheap ST trailer tires. Some of them have a bad history of blow outs and early failure. If it is going to be a spare probably not an issue.
