Well, I took your advice and gave it a shot this evening. All looked good except for the mositure run-off at the end of the awning tube........;

Shouldn't be an issue in the summer, so I say go for it!

It isn't really all that badly priced either. I expected it would be higher. We have severely hot summers in Virginia. If i didn't have so many electronic items always sitting on tables under my awning that would get wet, I'd consider purchasing this. I love sitting under my awning but in the middle of June and July, that gets difficult.

Here's an alternative to that one for half the cost, double the heads and a filter to keep the calsification low.

Really no more than the cost of ready good set of patio lights.

Using a set of the awning slide in tube light holders you would have a nice setup run off your outdoor shower for your awning. Only concern would be how moist would the camp area get from it running and would some camgrounds frown about using it being water driven? Other than that sounds like a great remedy for those scorcing no wind days when you want to sit outside, but it's just too hot.

Misters work well when in a dry climate. They are very popular in the AZ deserts. In more humid locations, all they will do is get you wet.

The one 3'senough found is reasonably priced. The only downside is it will probably require more water pressure than the other one, meaning it wouldn't work well on pump pressure. However, you wouldn't want to run one off the water tank for very long so it's probably a moot point.

I would think it would be pretty cheap and easy to make something custom yourself from parts at the local hardware store. Trick is to get a fine enough mist that you get the cooling effect, but not wet.

PS - my advice - stay away from the bucket! (Well at least Crabman's bucket!)

OK for all the neat freaks out there there is now a separate bucket for the backup toilet. The green one is saved for clear water to dump over your head when it gets too hot. But keep in mind, using two buckets instead of one will chip away at your CCC. Every item adds up when it comes to weight. It would be bad to have a blowout or burn up your engine by carrying the extra bucket.

My neighbor across the street from has a home brew one she rigged up on a box fan that she uses during the warmer months. She also has a conventional mister she put up on her awning.

You can get the necessary emitters and fittings needed to make your own at any hardware store or home center (at least you can in my neck of the woods...er...cactus patch). It would be hard to beat the price of the kit 3'senough found, though.
