Awning Ripped. Repair Ideas?

Had a heck of a wind/rain storm last night and I wasn't able to retract the awning in time to prevent the damage. It ripped a few inches on one end, where the awning is attached at the roof line.

Does anybody have experience repairing a problem of this nature?

I read reviews of awning repair tape and they were mostly negative. It's a high stress area and would need a solid fix. I was thinking that stitching in a patch with heavy duty weather resistant thread would be the best fix. It's on the end so I'm not not worried about the repair shedding water. A leak would be ok. I just want to prevent further ripping.

I'll try to get a picture of the damage posted tomorrow.

New awning (fabric only) runs about 250 bucks, depending on size. You can try a fix, or just replace it. IMO, probably easier and less worrysome to just put a new one on.

Eternabond. ... will last for years, and once it gets seasoned it blends right in.
