Battery Question

I have two deep cycle batteries along with a battery disconnect switch. The trailer will be parked at a seasonal site this year, plugged into power all the time. We will be there every weekend and a couple times during the work week. Should I switch the batteries off when we leave, and back on so they stay charged up when we come back? Or should I just leave them switched on all the time and let the converter manage them? With what new batteries cost I want to get as much life out of these as I can.

As long as you have shore power 24/7, I would leave the battery connected to the TT's charge controller. This will keep your battery properly charged. Check you water level on the first day of each month. I would pull your 12VDC fuses for the Radio, CO detector, Tv amp and and anything else that could put a drain on the battery, in case there is an AC power failure. Also unplug your Tv.
Just my thoughts,
Don

I leave everything hooked up in mine. I also leave the propane on and the fridge in the auto position. That way in the event of a short power outage the fridge will continue to work.

What year is your unit? The reason I ask is that the newer (about 2009 and forward) 4 stage chargers are more battery friendly on long term plug in's. The older units constantly push in 13.6-13.8V which can lead to "cooking". For a few months usage and regular checking of water levels you should be fine.

I leave mine plugged in year round on the 4 stage charger because they have a float mode.

the unit is a 2014. Storage mode on mine puts out 13.2 volts, and increases to 14.4 for 15 minutes every 21 hours to reduce sulfation the manual says.

Why can't I seem to find a battery disconnect switch on my X23B? I see so many talking about that, but I can't find one. Currently (while waiting for a chance to go camping) we have our battery unplugged and sitting inside the trailer.

Many of us, including myself had to install our own battery disconnect switches as they were not standard equipment. If you do not wish to install one you can disconnect a cable from the battery or pull the fuse by the battery.

You will be fine. Just check the water levels as mentioned.

Battery water levels

Make sure you use distilled water and not tap water in the battery. Tap water will eventually kill a battery.
