Bedroom slide comes out by itself
I purchased a new/leftover 2012 Jayco Pinnacle a few months back. Had it delivered to my home, and awaiting spring to take it on it's trip. Twice now the bedroom slide has come out on it's own. Anyone experience this problem? I was going to purchase an Adco cover to protect the rv, but now thinking about it the slide coming out may have ripped the cover, or worse damaged the slide. It's under warranty, but I'm even concerned about towing it to a Jatco dealer, for fear it may come out while on the road.

I would contact whoever delivered it to you and tell them to pick it back up to get it fixed.

More than likely there are wire connections in the slide switch almost touching, and maybe do touch when wind sways or something causes movement. If the delivery person is not available to pick it up as mentioned by Larry, I would pull the slide switch out of the wall, find the power wire with a test light, and disconnect it from the switch. And be sure to tape off that wire so it doesn't come in contact with another wire. Then you can tow it back to dealer without fear of the slide moving while towing.

Agreed. Sounds like a wiring short or defective switch. Get it fixed asap (wouldn't want that just opening up going down the freeway, instant accident)

Is there a remote control for the slide out?? if so, I would suspect that another device is operating on same frequency and opening it (i.e. garage door opener, etc.). If there is a remote control there should be a way to deactivate the remote ability of the slide and see if that is what's causing it... that would be my first suspicion.

Close the slide, then disconnect the battery until repairs are made- JMHO- DD

One caution - if you disconnect the battery and then tow it, your breakaway switch will not work if the trailer becomes separated from the TV.

Update: The slide motors were replaced, but the slide still came out by itself- Jayco replaced the circuit board that they said was causing the slide to come out. Havn't had a problem since.

Hope that got it fixed, we have never had a problem with our Slides going out on their own.

I was on a trip for work this summer, and had stopped along the way for something and while I was getting on the highway a Class A MH going the other way had a street side slide out all the way (2-3 feet). Kind a scare, no hazard lights or anything driving 60mph I would guess.
