So what was the consensus here for LED's that best mimic the standard 921s? Reading this thread gets me confused ... ???

I'm still testing bulbs. I've been through about 3 sets already. I finally found a pretty good replacement for my Halogens, but I'm about to try my 3rd set on the 921's. I just can't get the color right, and I really want to get as close to the incandescent as I can.

These http://www.ebay.com/itm/1x-Warm-Whit...item2a26c1b68c are my next attempt. I'm hoping the color temp will be right, and that they will be bright enough for the three sets I have in my main cabin area...

I have learned that the Kelvin rating is key. If it says "warm white" in the description, but the stats say anything over 3500K, it will be more blue than a standard bulb. And so far I haven't found anything between 3500K and 5000K.

We shall see... I have to wait a while, DW is getting really tired of finding lights in the mail box all the time.

In my experience, the 48 SMD, warm white panels were the closest match to the stock 921s. I tried a few panelsand cobs with fewer SMDs but they weren't bright enough for task lights. I saved the 36SMD 'panels to use in the bunk and bed area so my DW doesn't blind me while trying to read at night.

Looks like these, but these are cheaper. Unless I'm missing something? http://www.ebay.com/itm/200751678998...84.m1436.l2649

That's pretty close except that board is 48-3528 SMD where the one I linked was 48-5050 SMD. The one I linked should be brighter which is what I'm looking for in this particular round. I'm looking to replace the bulbs in the three primary lights along my main cabin. These are next in line because they are the most frequently used when the trailer is not hooked to shore power, and these 6 bulbs produce the next highest heat load.

The ones that you linked may be better for other areas where I need a bit gentler light though, and that vendor may have some of the 5050s for cheaper. Thanks for the link!!

Looks like your bulbs that you linked to are on 'sale' ... I have to wait a couple months as my X213 is on order - I don't even know how many bulbs I need !

On sale or not, I still have to wait. You'll be surprised how many bulbs there are, I was. It seemed like just when I thought I was done counting, I would find or think of one or two more. There are lights EVERYWHERE in my trailer... Yet now that I'm typing this, I wonder how I think I don't have enough and want to install a few more?!

I see several 48-5050 panels listed on eBay for under $4 from Hong Kong and the Philipines but they are pure or xenon whites (I'm assuming the 5-6k range). I wonder how the colors look on those...

That color range is great for areas where you are doing work and need really good light. But in my experience, those look really sterile. DW hates them (and you know what that means) because she thinks they look blue. I don't like them because they make my trailer look like my office, or like a hospital room; kind of the same color as the florescent tubes we have in some commercial applications. I know the "warm white" is not as "true" a light, but to me it just feels warmer and more inviting... even if it is technically a little less useful.

I'd agree. Whatever LED gets me as close to the stock 921 bulbs is where I'd want to be.

I agree with s1njin, I just want to know which ones are the closest in color to the stock bulbs. BUT I do want to switch to LEDs. Please can someone with experience tell us less experienced people which "one" that is??? Thank you.

The best I can do is recommend you look at some side by side comparisons of pictures earlier in this thread.

Everyone's perspective is a little different.

Kind regards,
Doug

just purchased and started to install these. I am a bit disappointed though. the color is too white and they aren't bright enough for my general lighting desires. I do intend to use them for the reading lights above the beds.

Here is my question:
An 11W 921 bulb has a 180 Luemen rating with a 2800K color temp. The minimum color temp I can find for 921 LED replacements has been 3000K.

Does anyone know of an LED replacement with a 2800K color temp rating?

I think it might be difficult to find an LED that lists a color range or a listing that is accurate. I went with the "warm" 48 SMDs 3528 and they seemed ok to me. I don't have a means of measuring lumens or color temp but I suspect a 48 5050 would be a bit brighter. I don't know if anyone sells a panel with more than 48 SMDs that would fit in a TT light housing.

Most of the replacements I've looked at have listed a range for the color temperature (2500-3000K for example) with a subjective descriptor like "warm white". I recently purchased a set that was listed as "warm white" with a 3500K rating (IIRC) that was almost right. It seems to me that the difference between 2800 and 3000 would not be within most lower-cost manufacturers tolerance?

Sorry, despite all the bulbs I've tried, I still haven't found "the one". Maybe next round, I'll have better news...
