CO sensor chirp

I installed a battery cutoff switch in my trailer. After I turn off power the CO alarm chirps for a day or more. Is this normal or might I have a problem with the alarm?

CO sensor chirp

I don't have a battery cutoff switch but I've always disconnected the battery on both of my campers (previous was a 2014 264BH and current is a 2017 28BHBE) and they never made a sound. Not saying you have a problem but it's not normal in my experience (which is limited). I wonder how it has power to chirp if you disconnect power?

Low Power

Previous CO sensors I have had chirp when power gets low, and then drain the 12v even faster. Hence the reason we all end up adding cut-off switches like you have done. Normally that means power is cut to the CO Detector... Any chance yours has a built in battery back-up and it is registering that as a low power source?

They have batteries in them to function in case of power failure. It is a building code that's applicable to RV's. Test your Co sensor monthly, it can save your life.

CO/ propane alarm

The CO/propane alarm goes off ONLY in the middle of the night, thing is...the propane is turned off! After pushing the reset button, the alarm will sound 3-4 more times.
I asked the service dept where we bought it...they of course have never heard of this problem...This is really getting old!
Can anyone help?

1st, I would not assume the power is off until I verified it with a dc volt meter.

2nd, I have never seen a co/lp alarm in a rv that had ac power w/ battery backup. All original equipment ones I have seen are powered by the 12v onboard battery. Not any requirement as far as I know.

If the unit alarms and is over 5 years old, it's time for a new one. They do go bad sooner than that in my experience occasionally. Low voltage and some chemical odors will cause them to alarm also.

Don't ignore it! It's hard to ignore it in the middle of the night anyhow.

Mine has alarmed on occasion when the portable generator is way off and the wind is bringing some exhaust fumes inside. My grandson set one off with flatulence once.
