Debating a Change

I’ll preface this with, we love our rig and floor plan, but IMHO the bathroom door design is awful as it opens towards the steps. We didn't think it would be an issue when we purchased, but DW has already fallen once (and has the scar to prove it), and I’m afraid it’s only a matter of time before one of us goes down again.

As a result we’re debating making a change and have a couple of questions about available options:
- is the Heat Pump worth the money? We always need the heat at the beginning and end of the season, but also have the electric fireplace to help take off the chill.
- is the Sani-con Waste Management System a “must have”? In three years I haven’t had a problem using the standard gravity drain.

Thanks in advance!

We have the heat pump and love it! It doesn't get that cold near Houston so we rarely need to use the furnace.
I can't answer the Sani-con question as we have never had it.

Out of curiosity, could you change the door swing or make it a pocket door or something?

Same as Magnolia Tom, love the Heat Pump. Had one in our 08 SENECA too. Also can't comment on the SANI-CON.

Looking into options for changing the door swing or using the hinges that "pivot" from the middle of the door. A pocket door was the first thing I thought of but there isn't enough room for it.

What about a sliding door instead? The track could mount on the ceiling. Kinda like what many TTs use for the master bedroom

Is the Sani-con the black tank flush system? If so I use mine and it's outstanding

Loved it, just wanted more room since we started full timing. Our 08 was the 35GS, KODIAK chassis, not the FREIGHTLINER. Put 50,000 on it in 5 1/2 yrs.

Both heat pump and Sani-con are worth it. The sani-con can open up options you just don't have with the gravity drain. I've even used it to drain into a toilet on a municipal sewer a few times when we'd arrive home after a long last-leg and had a few bathroom uses in the tanks by the time we got home.

If anything the old accordion doors could work if you find that a slider won't. Temporary solution if anything.
