Diagnose bad ATS
Trying to figure out if I have a bad transfer switch or not.
I have a PD52P in the trailer and the genny side is connected to a 15a plug with both hot sides tied together (same as a 30-15a adapter would do as far as I know). I'm in a park in CA and was running fine on the 50A shore cord last night and then this afternoon I had no AC power in the trailer. When I had hooked up yesterday I was unable to get the 50A plug to fully seat into the receptacle, when it went out today I wiggled it and got it to seat but the was an arc in there. Park guy cam and reset the breakers a couple of times and it drew pwr from the 50A again but quit a few minutes later. If I use the 15A recep on the pedestal and feed into the 15A plug I put on the genny side (I use that to plug into my inverter) the ATS clunks and I get AC in the trailer.
So, the question is, should the shore pwr side of the ATS clunk when pwr is applied? Should the green light be on if I have AC on the shore side but no clunk? The genny contactor pulls in after the delay and with no AC connected anywhere I can push the contactor movable part by hand, not so with the other side. Seems to be a bit of a smell from the unit too. Maybe my shore side contactor killed itself.
Thanks for any info and help.
