Did Maxair quit making this fan?
I was looking for a fan like the one that RickAE has on the trailer below. I cannot find any sign of them, either on Amazon or on the Maxair web site. Did they quit making this model?

Wow, not sure, but do you need that particular model for some reason? Space constraints, perhaps? I just installed this MaxxAir and it's a pretty solid design if you have room for it: http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f3...tml#post508709

Aha! That would be easier...

I bought it in from Amazon in 2013 but it's no longer available there. The part number is Maxxair 00-965001. A Google search turned up this web site with it still available.
Vent Cover, Turbo Maxx, Model 1200T w/Thermostat-00-965001 by MaxxAir - RV Part Accessories
It is expensive but I just used the existing vent to install it. In fact I installed it on one MH, removed it when I sold the MH, and installed in my current MH.

I'm actually getting ready to buy one of the Fan-tastic fans. How challenging is the install of the Turbo Maxx versus the Fan-tastic fan? With the Fan-tastic fan, you have to completely remove all of the sealant--a somewhat time-consuming job.

I think the Turbo Fan that I was asking about in this thread just mounts to the frame of the existing vent. Of course, you still have to run the wires up and out, but I think you could "sneak" them through the screen if needed.

I installed one of the "Turbo" models in our old fifth wheel. I chose it because of the mount to the existing vent, like you mention, being afraid to tear into the roof. It was pretty easy and straight forward to install. We were pretty happy with it until the bearing developed a squeak, but that was after someone left the fan on for quite a while after a trip (was likely running for two weeks solid). Turns out that bearing squeaks are pretty common on them.
Not finding the same model, I went with the newer model Max air vents (7500 model I believe) on our new Jayco that required complete removal and replacement. After doing two of the new style ones, I can say that while it sounds scary, it is a VERY easy process. The most difficult part is scraping the old sealant off the roof in preparation for the new vent. I wouldn't let the install sway you from these models. I am confident the the job I did was better than factory. Screws installed straight and ample sealant. Factory sealant was inconsistent and screws weren't straight.
If I had to compare the two, it is pretty close to a tie. Plusses and minuses on both.
My experience on the install for these has me considering adding a vent (cutting a new hole in the roof!!) over the rear bunks for the kids.

Thanks for the reply. You may have given me the confidence to do this on my own. The in-town Coach Repair shop is booked out 2 months. Our dealer may be a little sooner, but I'll be damned if I give them another penny of my money.

I think I did a post when I did mine. Search on my user name.
There isn't really any special skill required. Just general ability and a half an ounce of patience.
