Direct TV

Before I go and waste my time, I am curious if anyone has already done this. I have Direct TV in my house. I have the Genie DVR and 4 other Genie boxes. I wonder if I can unplug one of the boxes and use it in my TT or would I have to use the DVR since it is the brain. Thanks.

You have to have the DVR.

Directv

I take one box out of the bedroom and change the settings on that box to match the dish that I am using and watch TV.

I also have the Genie DVR. I have a separate DVR that I leave in my fifth wheel all the time. It costs me an additional five dollars per month, but it is worth it not having to transport it back-and-forth to the house and reprogram it each time. When I have my camper in storage beside my garage, I have the DVR connected to a portable satellite dish just like the one I use when I am out on the road. That way I do not ever have to change the settings or reprogram it. We are weekenders only, going out 15 to 20 times a season. It isn't worth the trouble to haul that DVR back-and-forth to the house each time we go out. By the way, the DVR in the fifth wheel is not connected to the Genie in any way.
