DirecTV and DNS

I had a very pleasant phone call from DirecTV a couple of hours ago. Last week I sent in the necessary paperwork to get DNS (Distant Network Service) added to my account. Actually I wanted it approved, but not actually activated until I move to an area where I need it.
The paperwork was mailed last week and when the lady called today she said it was approved and just wanted to verify that I did not want it activated yet. She said when I was ready to just call their 800 number and request it be turned on. She said if the first line customer service person had a problem ask him/her to read the notes on my account from today's date from her employee number. She gave me her employee number.
She said if this didn't work just ask to be transferred to the DNS group and they would handle it immediately. She said the reason for the reluctance of the first line customer service is due to severe FCC penalties if they make a mistake.
She also said I could have my home address locals as well as DNS at the same time. I could not have locals from a market other than my home address along with DNS, but could have DNS anywhere anytime. Our home address local stations want you to watch them when you are your home market so they don't care if you have DNS when traveling.
This procedure was incredibly easy in contrast to what I have read on various forums through the years. For the record both of my receivers are in my RV and no receivers are in S&B.

Sounds awesome. Does DNS cost extra?

Ed, we had our Dish Network activated today. What a pain. It seems that some @#$%^& pulled it down so the elevation was wrong. We spent hours fighting the no signal syndrome and finally called the guy that installed it. He noticed that the elevation was to low. After 19 years with no problems it was real frustrating. Now the dish will be the first thing I check before calling for activation.

DNS costs $15.00/month extra and you get either east coast stations (New York) or west coast (I think LA), but not both. I will only activate it when I am out of my spot beam home area or when I am in an area where DirecTV does not provide all of the networks. They do have some areas where they don't such as Panama City, FL where ABC isn't available on the local spot beam. This is due to the local ABC affiliate not wanting their programming available on DirecTV.
The one thing that might have made my setting DNS up so easy is that I only have two receivers and they are both in the RV. Trying to have service in the RV and also in a home at the same time could be the problem everyone has been talking about.
