Dometic RV Thermostat
Does the Dometic Single Zone LCD Thermostat have a battery that needs replaced periodically? What powers the LCD? Is it powered by the A/C heat pump unit?

That's a nice thermo. I looked over operating instructions and a spec sheet, neither reference a battery. Did not see an install doc. I'm guessing no battery. If you get one, let us know. Has nice features.

I opened the cover and no batter is evident, but the LCD and leds work once the camper has AC power so it must come from the heat pump. It seems to have about a 1-1/2 degree variation from turn on to turn off point from a given set point.
I just wish it had an actual temp read out in addition to the set point reading.

Well that is USELESS if you have to be hooked to shore power for the furnace to work..

I'd bet it uses the house 12V and will work on battery power. Our Coleman thermostats work that way.

You would lose that bet. Our Skylark has a heat pump that only runs on 120 V power and will run if you have shore power even without the battery. If you're roughing it you get no heat or cooling, not even a fan.

It is strange they use the term Furnace if it is, in fact, a heat pump. Those usually say Heat and Cool. Furnace is the term associated with a propane furnace. They will run on 12V only (and propane).
Not to say it can't be but I have never seen a travel trailer camper without a propane furnace.

I have the exact same thermostat in my RV. It works off of 12V and shore power both. I don't have a heat pump, just a propane furnace. I can see where a heat pump would need the shore power to function, but no propane furnace should need any more than 12V.
