Front Tongue Jack LED Light

I just went out to put out the trash for pick up tomorrow morning and noticed the LED lights were on on the tongue jack. I thought maybe some wise guy turned it on but when i went to turn it off, it actually turned brighter.

so, my question is, is this normal after dark and I never noticed or do I possibly have a short circuit causing the light to come on?

Thanks in advance.

Should be some aerosol spray that can dry it out. I keep my jack covered with old trash can/bucket to keep it dry.. Good luck

That's what happened to ours. I took the switch apart and there was a lot of corrosion in the switch mechanism. Part of the switch body is molded into the jack housing, so be careful when you're taking it apart -- sorry, no photos. But a few seconds with a small wire brush and some dielectric grease solved the problem.

When my trailer is parked it always has a small black plastic garbage bin turned upside down, covering the jack. This prevents water from getting in and causing problems. The only time it's uncovered is when it's under tow. I use a bungee cord stretched under the tongue to secure it. Works great and has prevented any problems so far.

When I park our TT, I also use a small plastic garbage can from Walmart and invert it over the electric jack. I installed two eye hooks on each side on the inside for the chains and a broom clasp holder in the front for the plug wire. Keeps everything dry and out of the dirt. Weight of the chains keeps it on the jack. Wish I could take credit for this but I picked this up from an idea on this forum.

Happy RVing,
Jeff

In wintery condition still moist will attack the switches, it is hard to prevent because most RV are stored outside. When corroded a bit; contact spray will help to clean the contacts. I usually spray some silicone spray on the switch to let it soak in. I also carry a spare switch. Some automotive or RV stores will carry them.
Haven't seen a 100% waterproof Power Tongue Jack yet..............yes only the ones with the buckets on them. Don't forget the grease the spindle, when they leave the mfg. they hardly have grease on them.
