furnace woe

Hello,

My atwood 8500 heater will not light. It has gas to it and the fan runs for mayb 30 seconds and then turns off. I do not hear any clicking from the igniter and when the fan quits running a red light in the furnace does a steady blink every 3 seconds or so.

Any ideas?

Welcome to JOF

The simplest root cause is that the LP has yet to get to the furnace. Does your stovetop ignite? Sometimes with furnaces (like frig's) it may take a few cycles before the air is purged out of the LP line.

Yes it has gas getting to it for sure, I cracked the gas line going to it and it had gas. the stove, water heater all have gas. It's not a supply problem. It's not even trying to ignite.

Okay, i'm fairly certain I fixed it. I narrowed it down to the circuit board or the sail switch but since a circuit board is around $100, I took off the sail switch and clicked it on and off a few times and put it back in. It worked!! I guess it's dirty or something. I am going to order a new one soon. I guess I should have wrote down the part number when I had it out!!! doh!!

Yeah it was nice having gas heat last night. We we in Arizona this winter and didn't really need it, but hit some National Parks without electricity in Utah and about froze lol. It's all good now just from cycling the switch a few times. I'll still change it once the new one comes.

HooDoo, we carry a catalytic propane heater and seldom use the furnace. It is a two panel Kozy World and it heats our trailer easily. A plus is that you don't have to listen to the furnace fan.
