Golf cart batteries on X23b

Hey guys,

I just bought a 2017 X23b last weekend. I started switch over everything from my tent trailer over to the new trailer and ran into a little problem. So I run two 6v golf cart batteries and when I put the box on the new frame it didn't fit. so I had to cut the box to make it work because the box hits the front of the trailer. The problem is I dont like it looks like crap. I know i'm not the only one with x23b who has golf cart batteries. What did you guys do? any pics?

I thought about taking the trailer to a welding shop and have them drop the brackets and re weld it up.

let me know any ideas you have .

CONGRATULATIONS on the JAYCO!!!

...and WELCOME TO JOF!!! The members here are GREAT!!! There is a lot of GREAT information to be found here. I am sure that you will have information and pictures to share with us... so please do!!

Can you send us a picture of the area where you want to add the batteries. It would be a big help.

Thanks

I'm tagging along in this thread. I'd like to someday step up to GC2's but I've noticed the taller battery boxes won't clear the front of the trailer. There's no way to move them forward because of the propane tanks and tongue jack. Haven't put a ton of thought into it yet but very curious to see if anyone solved this problem.

Check truck stores for PLASTIC tool boxes.. Metal ones could cause shorts and the acid fumes will eat them.

Here is what one guy did on the forum..

The first picture shows the mod to the battery tray and the hardware to mount the box to the frame.

The next two pictures show the pre-existing hole being used to mount the box and the hardware to make it so. I used 3/8 bolt, washer, rubber washer, fender washer, locking washer and nut.

The next picture shows the box mounted. The rubber washer serves to seal the box and to cushion the plastic box from the hardware.

Here, the batteries are connected.

Below is a side view.

One more view.

Also note that TORKLIFT has a battery box line that slides off so you might try to move the propane tanks as far to the front as you can get them and then use the area between the propane tanks and the front of the trailer for the battery box. Don't know how this would affect getting to your spare tire... The metal box might be more safe to keep your batteries being stolen...

Does look like a good challenge for you...

Thanks Roy, I hadn't seen those pictures before. Looks doable I just worry about interference with the equalizer brackets. I'll have to take a closer look this weekend.
