Grey tank issue

Our second grey tank won't empty. This is the one for the shower. We haven't used the shower at all and when I winterized the trailer all tanks were empty. How did the water get in there and why can't I get it to drain. I wish the valve was exposed instead of being buried some where under the covered underbelly.

Can you see that it's full? Or is it the lights telling you that it's full?

If the only thing that goes into it is the shower, and no one has used the shower, I'm thinking that something (rodent?) has disturbed the wiring.... Is that a possibility?

The indicator reads 2/3rds full and I can see water in the drain to the shower just a couple inches from the top

The water doesn't (or shouldn't) go straight into the tank. There should be a trap there, and that's what you are likely seeing...... The trap keeps tank fumes from coming out the shower drain.

I would suggest opening the drain valve, running some water into the shower, and see if it comes out the pipe. if it starts to flow, you have a faulty indicator.

X2, this is something you can do and let it run down the driveway or into the grass. Do not do this with the black tank.

If it has worked in the past, just verify by opening the valve under a 5 gal bucket and put some water in the shower. The drain trap is giving you a false indication of full. Make sure you have the correct grey valve.

I had a problem with indicators on my new Jayco and it was a loose wire connection on the tank sensors. It will require inspection but don't let that stop you.

Once you know where the tank is, it's easy to access it without removing the whole under belly.

Thank you for all the input. I was wondering if the valve was messed up because the T handle keeps spinning around without tightening. That valve would require dropping part of the underbelly.

The typical Valterra style blade (gate valves) do not close by tightening the T-handle.

They close by pushing in like a plunger.

You are just unscrewing the handle.

Push/pull to operate your grey tank valve.
