GreyHawk - hard wired surge protector installation - Help

So basic wiring is all that putting the surge protector in is, BUT when I opened my power handling area, I was faced with the following unmarked rat's nest:



As it is the Greyhawk 31FS, it has a gen set and the auto switch over device/circuit depicted below:


Any advice on how or where to interject this thing is appreciated.

I installed one from Progressive in our Pinnacle after the transfer switch but, I had a lot more room than you have based on your pics. Looks like your unit is 30 amp? You should see labels for line side (inlet) and load side (outlet). Progressive has great help over the phone if you have one of their units. I did have to buy a short piece of "filler wire" from a local elec. supply store to complete the install but the cost was very minimal. It's really not hard to do - just take your time and you'll be ok.

I'm doing the EXACT same thing Carl! I've decided to mount the unit next to the switch-over box so that the orange 10 gauge romex connected to the "PANEL" connections inside the switch-over will reach the surge protector without lengthening it. I will put another 10 gauge wire between the "PANEL" connection and input of the surge protector. I'm wondering where to put the display console now.

I don't have a transfer switch so all I had to do was replace the junction box with the PI surge protector and connect the existing 30 amp power cable to the input side and the orange 10 gauge romex to the load side.


Your pics won't expand so it's hard for me to tell what exactly your dealing with.


I installed mine when I replaced the factory jackknife couch.
