Hooked battery back up after long winter

Hi ... I hooked my battery back up and after doing so, I inserted the 30amp fuse (on far right of green wire in a black rubber small protector) into the slot. Heard a cracking sound and the fuse is shot. See picture of battery hookup. I'm "think" it's correct.

Left - Positive - with white wire
Right - Negative - with an orange/black and a green wire.

Is this right ?

I don't think so. Usually the fuse is on the + side. Follow the white wire to see if it attaches to chassis..

I assume the photo you posted is the one you took today AFTER hooking up the battery,
NOT the one you took BEFORE you UNHOOKED the battery.

White is ground/nuetral & black or red is +volts from house wiring standards.

Reverse and hope the fuse protected the rest of your RV.

33 RLDS ... the white doesn't attach to the chasis, the green one does. It attaches to the "Breakaway Switch" under the A-frame. SEE attached image of this.

There are color standards, but if work was done on the system the colors you now have could mean nothing.

With most all modern vehicles/trailers the wire(s) that connects to the frame/ground always goes to the negative (-) post. The wire(s) that go to fuses or switches should be connected to the positive (+) post. (Many, many years ago there were some vehicles with positive ground, but they are all antiques now.)

Your problem may not just be that the polarity is reversed. It is possible that there was also some rodent damage or other problem that surfaced over the period of storage. Wires sometimes get crushed by jacking in the wrong places.

On RV's, the white wire is ground and connected to the battery negative. Hopefully nothing else fried.

If when hooked back up correctly things dont work look in the fuse/breaker panel for 2 fuses marked reverse polarity
I have done the same thing "hooked up backwards" the reverse polarity fuses saved the rest of the system.

If the fuse blew, it SHOULD'VE protected your unit.

White is Neg on RV's.. to help my mind keep it right I put red tape on the pos wire and black on the neg wire..
