How does the DVD player work?

Just picked up my 13 X17Z. How dies the DVD play through the TV. I gave hooked up my TV to the coax connection in the wall next to the frig. Once I put a DVD in the radio I can hear it but can not get the picture on the TV. Any advice?

On my unit you have to go to the TV menu and select input. From there you select A/V and you should get a picture.

Jeep Camper - the coax connection you made was most likely your exterior HDTV antenna....as GLSIMMS said perfectly, you will need to select the proper "input" from your HDTV set-up menu (Antenna, Video 1, Video 2, HDMI, S-Video....etc.)

Do as mentioned above. You may also have to turn off the antenna amplifier.

You need to connect the yellow RCA connector to the back of your TV, then select AUX input on your TV. The coax cable is ONLY for the antenna and outside cable input. The co-ax cable does not carry the signal from the DVD player. Trouble is from what I have read on these forums several Jayco models never got the pull though and grommet for the yellow axillary video cable, including the X17Z.

That what I thought was weird. There is no yellow RCA to be seen. I am guessing it is behind the radio in the cabinet? Therefore I have to pull the radio, locate to RCA and drill and grommet the cabinet?

I would take it back to the dealer. That should have been checked during their inspection before it was sold.

While placing your RCA cables consider putting all three from the Jensen to the tv. One is for video, and 2 for audio. This will allow you to play audio through your tv instead of the TT speakers. Might be handy if someone is trying to rest etc. Also look to see if you can use an HDMI cable. If you can use that instead. One cable, better picture.

He's spot on. My dealer also said that Jayco doesn't fully rig the X17Z for DVD playback. And I have a 2014. He told me I'd have to pull the head unit, attach the cables, and drill a hole in the cabinet next to the head unit. Not a big deal, but it didn't seem right to me either.

We just picked up the X17A, will be using a portable DVD player since the radio unit and the TV are on opposite ends of the camper
