Hungry varmits attack satellite cable...

When we set up our satellite dish, I sometimes have to use a lot of cable because of where I can find a line of sight to the satellites. Several times after breaking down the system in preparation to leave I discover that some animal has chewed on the cable. So far they have just chewed through the outer jacket of the cable - when they find the wires and aluminum of the outer cable, they quit chewing. It's not like the animals at a particular campground are crazy for the taste of my cable, it's happened several different places.

Is there anything I can put on the cable to discourage the varmits from sampling my RG-6 cable?

Try putting peppermint oil on a cotton ball and running the cable through that to coat it.. it MIGHT work.. not a big cost thing anyway

From what I understand, Soy-oil is used in the manufacturing of the outer plastic covering on wires and cables and that is what they go after.
