We purchased the same product at the RV Show, General RV had a very attractive show price that we could not pass on. Members in this community are very opinionated that surge protectors are a must-have, that was sufficient reason for me to purchase one.

Good choice! In my opinion, you can't go wrong with PI. Customer service is top notch and their products can save you thousands in damage. I consider it a type of RV "insurance".

We plug that same thing in even at home. The one that wires in does much more and is on out list of mods.

I really did not want to wire one in , just my 2 cents, would rater have it outside should it be melted by a large surge or a lining strike ...

I went with the hardwire unit because:
- not affected by rain
- anti-theft
- I'll never leave it behind
- error code readout is inside the RV, easily monitored
- one last thing I have to worry about during setup and teardown

I bought the EMS-PT30C, 30a portable - price was right at $208, I guess because the new, more water resistant model was out. For the $90 price difference I can buy a lot of trash bags to wrap around it to add water resistance to mine. I too like the idea of putting the surge protection outside of the TT.
