Installation ?

Bought a sheet of aluminum diamond plate and had it sheared to fit the front lower part of my 01 Kiwi 17a. Thinking of attaching it with high bond double stick tape and RTV silicone. Anyone know if there might be a better adhesive I might use? Just don't want to drill holes in the fiberglass. Thanks for any input.

Yes I would use some sort of construction adhesive as well. Are you ok with sanding the fiberglass first? Rough it up a bit for better adhesion.

An example...
LePage / LePage® Construction Adhesives / PL® 9000 Heavy Duty Construction Adhesive

It does state metal friendly but you would have to check compatibility with fiberglass.

Cheers

Loctite PL Premium

It's not a 'quick grab' adhesive. You'll have to have a way to hold the diamond plate after you have the adhesive on it and put in position. So, if the diamond plate needs to be curved to fit etc., do that before you apply the adhesive.

Once the PL Premium has dried, you better hope you never need to remove the diamond plate!

The label says it will work on those surfaces, but I've never tried it on fiberglass and aluminum. It might be best to buy a tube and try it on some inconspicuous spot. I feel sure it will work for you.

I got this at a scrap metal place near me and they charged $3.49 lb. for it. I had it sheared to the size I needed.

So I guess a 4 x 8 would run about $115 or so.
