Jensen Failed

My Jensen entertainment center had never been used even after 3 years of full time use of my designer. My daughter was visiting a couple of weeks ago with my grandchildren and put a DVD in it for the kids to watch. It worked until time to remove the DVD. It would not eject. I do have the three year Jayco extended warranty which has a $100.00 deductible unless the selling dealer does the work and then it is $75.00.

I sent a text to my selling dealer yesterday morning with the above info and in less than hour he sent a text back that the new unit was on order. He said he would UPS it to me here where I am hosting and since I am installing it he would waive the deductible. He said to pry the old one open to get the DVD out before sending it back to him.

I do like my dealer.

Ed, that is customer service, your dealer is great and knows how to treat their customers right.

I should talk to then next time we replace our 5er.

It's a shame everyone can't have a good dealer nearby. I dropped by my dealer last week looking for a specific sewer hose elbow. The lot was open but the parts dept had been closed for 20 minutes. As I pulled up to the door, the parts manager was chatting outside, but promptly cut off conversation, asked what I was looking for, re-opened the store (even though I volunteered to come back), and walked me through all the options in stock and special order.....

Good customer service! When my Jensen dies I will replace it with higher quality components.

I might do the same Chuck, but this replacement will be free except for the cost of shipping the old one back to the dealer. Depending on how long it takes to get the replacement, I may just hold on to it until I head back to my home base in mid September which is 25 miles from my dealer. I always like to pop in and visit with them on occasion.

I got a call from my dealer yesterday afternoon, 8-1-13, and my replacement Jensen is in. I couldn't believe it. I only told them about the failure on 7-29-13 and they have the replacement on 8-1-13? They said they were lucky. Oh well, I don't care what they call it.

They shipped it to me yesterday via UPS. Now all I have to do is remove the old one, move all of the wires and reinstall the new one. They said it is an upgraded model from the one that I have that failed. I just hope it works better than the original one.

Update: My replacement Jensen arrived yesterday via UPS. It was the exact same dimension to fit the cutout, but it is a newer model with a lot more depth. Installation was strictly plug and play with only one wire different. The FM antenna lead on the old one plugged into a pigtail where on the new one it plugged directly into the back of the unit. There was ample antenna lead length so that wasn't a problem.

I took my dealer's advice and took a screw driver to the old one to get my stuck DVD out and managed that without damaging the DVD. I then sent a text to my dealer to see how fast he needed the old Jensen back. He said he didn't want it back at all, take it to the nearest dumpster. That is now done.

Extended warranty deductible zero. It was waived by my dealer since I installed the unit myself.
