looking to buy a Jayco Quest 10X

We are new to pop-up camping. We have been tent camping for years. That said as we enter our 50's we both think it's time to get off the ground. We have been looking to buy a used pop-up and came upon a Jayco Quest 10X. The seller wants 2000.00 I have offered 1500.00. It comes with three way heat and fridge plus the usual sink, stove and electric. It does need a new canvas since the screen is detaching in a number of places. Outside of that and a little cleaning is seems OK. Here are the questions I have.
1. It has surge brakes rather then electric brakes. Is one better then the other? would/can I convert?
2. What should I look for in this model as far as problems. Are there any notorious issues with this model?
3. Assuming I get it for 1500.00 is that a good price knowing I need to get a new canvas (about another 900.00 - 1000.00)?
Any other tips would be helpful.
Thanks

Welcome to the JOF comsdude! Good questions regarding purchasing a used popup. I'll move it over to Tech Talk forum for more exposure. Happy shopping
