LP/CO alarm slight whine

Picked up a new Jayfeather 28r and am experiencing an almost inaudible very high pitched whine emanating from the LP/ CO detector. Is this normal, is it because its new, or should it be a dealer issue?

Don't recall ever having that issue with the three Jayco tts we have owned. Sounds like a dealer issue to me.

Copy that, I guess I'll be taking it back (the detector) for a new one. Couldn't be happier overall though, the trailer is awesome!

We have the same issue. My kids heard it first (so high in frequency that you need undamaged hearing ), I finally heard it and I'll be bringing it back to be replaced when I get time.
Jim
PS The dogs don't seem to mind it, odd?

Did you ever get a response or fix? Our 2011 did that new from factory as well. Not sounding, but a very high pitched constant whine. I finally unplugged it because it was so annoying. When we took the trailer to our dealer later in the year, they simply rehooked it back up and told us that it was "priming" due to the formeldahyde, etc. in the trailer, which is stupid because our trailer got plenty of usage during the year (32 nights) so it had plenty of time to air out. Needless to say it will be requested of them once again this spring to fix it!

Needs to be replaced as per my dealer. may take several times to get one that doesn't whine. Big defective batch.

No whine here, that I can hear anyway. Advantages of old ears maybe.

I wonder if the detectors work properly if they have the whining problem?

Did have that problem, I dealt with the detector manufacturer directly, they admitted to having a bad batch, something about the speaker coil being a little loose... They had me send the old one back and they sent me a new "Quiet" one, free of charge, minus the original shipment. Try them directly, I found them very nice to deal with and the detector only has two screws and two wires holding it in.

The detector in my 29bhs g2 also had a wine when we picked it up. Replaced under warranty no problem. Also, converter has a sizzle sound when there was no 12v load. If you turned on a light sound disappeared. Slept with the bathroom light on for 2 trips. Also replaced under warranty. I've been extremely pleases with the customer service and warranty from jayco.

I am having the same whine in my 2011 x213. Took the alarm to my dealer today they gave me a new one came home installed it and the new one has the same problem. Also the green light is flashing not staying green constant. I think I will send it back to the distributor instead of where I bought the trailer. The manufacturer is probably testing them before sending them out.

When the manufacturer sent you the new one did it have the plastic connectors on the ends or just wire ends? I need to send mine back also.

Hello, Welcome to the forum. I saved the clips from my old one, and noted the wire colors. The new one comes with just cut wire ends so you'll neep to reuse or make new connections to hook it up. Good luck and happy camping!
