mice damage?

I haven't had any electrical issues in my 2013 26BH since it was delivered new over 3 years ago but this past fall I ran into 2 dead circuits.

On our last outing, the A/C would not work. I traced the issue to a dead 12V feed wire at the thermostat. I put a jumper wire on an adjacent light fixture to bypass the problem and got the A/C working. A wiring diagram I found shows the 12V thermostat feed comes off the heater (which is very inaccessible on a 26BH) so I left the issue for a later time.

When I went to winterize, I found the water pump would not work. I blew the lines out so I really didn't need to fill them with antifreeze but the dead pump concerned me.

I've trapped 3-4 mice in the camper over the past year and having two electrical issues in a short time makes me suspect I may have a wiring damage. Any thoughts on this?

Could be, I've had mice destroy wiring, it's a painful process to find this type of issue. Mice will eat the insolation on wires when nothing else appears better to eat..

Iraqvet05, first of all Thank You for your service!!
I've been an electrician for 34 years and have found electrocuted mice in all kinds of places. Mice can squeeze thru the opening the size of a dime. I would solve your mouse problems and then start looking for chewed wiring. To repair the 12v wiring use the matching gauge wire and 3M butt splices and shrink tube over the splice. (a good blow dryer will work on the shrink tube)

Leave the mice something good to eat like those bait blocks and they will leave your wiring alone.

Only problem with those, the mice go and die where you can't find them and stink!

Do this:

Fill bucket with anti-freeze and no stink, even after a couple of months!

I use glue traps that fold into a little open ended box. Also traps bugs, etc, Just throw them out in the spring. I usually move mine to the shed if unused. I also like that there is no mess on the floor like some glue traps. AND They are hard to step on LOL. Harvested a lot of bugs in the shed and garage.

I use them at the door, inside the access hatch, under sink, in bath area and storage areas. If they get in they don't have far to go.
But remember, prevention of entry is better every time.

Good Luck!
