Mounting a TV on the wall
I bought a new TV for the rear bedroom of my BHLT. I should get a picture of where it's going to mount, but essentially it goes in what I could best describe as an open cabinet. I want to put an extendable mount on the wall and to support it take a 1/2" piece of wood and run it the entire height of the cabinet wall. Glue and screw it to the rear wall. Then on the top and bottom but a couple of 1x1 reinforcing pieces to hold it against the wall.
My hope is that the 1/2" wood will hold the actual weight transferring it to the bottom of the cabinet while the wall and top of the cabinet will keep it from coming away from the wall.
The TV weighs 12.3 lbs
What do you guys think of doing this? I can get a picture of the cabinet if need be but imagine a regular cabinet without doors, like a cubby.

Here's the wall bracket I would be likely to use:
And this to allow the TV to be removed easily

Based on your description and the weight of the TV, IMO it sounds like it should work just fine. The reinforcement is a good plan.
Check the "Jayco MODS" forum, I thought I seen a thread (could be mistaken) on mounting a TV that may give some additional insight.

Nylyon, I just put that very setup on my TT bedroom wall, with member Quahog`s helpful PM`s to set me straight on what I needed. I like the fact that I can lift the TV out very quickly for travel or storage. And the articulating arm gives us multiple viewing angles. I just wish I could figure out a good place in the living area for one. The designated TV cabinet above the dinette just does not cut it, unless you have a giraffe neck!

That's exactly the reason I need to put something like this in. The cabinet is 7' up and viewing from the bottom bunk is a challenge. Having the arm like this still gives use of the "cubby" and puts the TV at a great angle. I've sent a note to Jayco to see if by chance there's any reinforcement that I can tie into, but I think that by adding the wood and bracing it'll work nicely. Being that it's in the back, I think it would be best to pull it down for travel.
I think that I'll order up the brackets, then make a Home Depot trip tomorrow to start my construction! I never would have thought of having a 3 TV camper.

Sounds like a plan. I agree with removing the TV for travel. I will just put it on the bed and cover it up, rather then have it hang there and bounce. I can also bring it in the house when not using the TT for extended periods. The living area TV we have been setting up on the dinette table for viewing on its stand. It`s a straight shot across from the couch at eye level. That`s the only place I have found for good viewing angle there. When we need the table, I just put it back in the TV cabinet. But I would like a better solution with possibly another mount somewhere.

If you contact Jayco with your VIN they will send you the framing plans for the walls you tell them for your trailer.
When I asked they sent it within a day for my trailer.

I have sent a note to Jayco asking for the diagrams. They have been very good about sending me information on the trailer, and it's been very helpful to me. I am impressed with how the trailer was designed for the most part.

So it turns out that Jayco had me covered, well mostly anyway. They put a 5x7x1/2 plywood backer in the wall for a TV. The only issue (assuming I am reading the diagram properly) is that the 7" starts from the top of the opening, so it's too high! So I am still going to put another 1/2" on the inside but at least I have something to screw into! It should hold MEGA strong.

I did some measurements today and that diagram just doesn't make sense. If it's correct, the backing board will be in the closet. I was on the phone with Jayco today trying to figure this out.
So I asked my neighbor to borrow "her" stud-finder. After suffering the endless masculinity jokes she's allowing me to borrow "her" stud finder. Hopefully it'll work on walls too.
