Mouse traps?

Does anyone use mouse traps as a preventative against a mouse infestation in your RV? Snap traps or sticky traps? Bait? Where do you put your traps? Do they work?

Note: We've never had mice so far, and I'd like to keep it that way.

Last winter and the winter before I had a mouse get in the cabinet under the sink. I used a glue trap. Not very humane and messy but what trap isn't?

I try to keep them out but if they get in I want to prevent damage to my camper.

During the winter I place about 6 sticky traps around the trailer. I have never had a mouse issue.

I have, plugged every hole in the floor, for wiring and so forth. I am sure this keeps them out

I keep snap traps under the kitchen sink and under the bathroom sink. Caught one mouse so far and haven't seen any since. I've foamed and caulked every hole I've seen so hopefully no more mice. But like was said before, if one gets in I want it dead.

For Lord's sake use traps or sticky traps! DO NOT use D-Con!! The rodents will crawl somewhere inaccessible, die and stink up your RV.

Service manager at a shop I worked at used it and a rat croaked somewhere in our department. Found it a month later. Told the SOB if he used the stuff again, I was gonna find the stinking carcass and tape under a file drawer in his office so he could enjoy what we had to endure!

We also have chickens, ducks, a cat and a dog that I don't want eating a poisoned mouse. I guess the same could go for wildlife, hate to see a mouse with a belly full of Decon be somethings dinner.

I put out snap and glue traps out this summer and caught 3 mice. There hasn't been food in my camper since last fall so I cannot explain why they are coming in. I prefer snap traps because they are lured to them with bait. For bait, I use peanut butter with bacon bits mixed in. If you cannot check the traps on a regular basis, I suggest placing the traps on a piece of cardboard...a dead mouse is hard to peel off the floor if it has been there long.

I tried a product this past winter that was recommended by someone else on this forum--It's either Fresh Cab or Cab Clear. A lot of farmers use this in their tractor cabs. The little packets have an odor that repels the mice. We put them inside the boxes on the outside of the trailer and inside the entrance door. Worked well for us last year.

I mostly use live traps and relocate the mice to a field a couple miles away if I check the trap in time. If I don't, they go in the garbage. I hate glue traps, but whatever works. This will be my first winter in my current camper, but it will be in storage for most of it. I will probably use a couple of live traps then too.

As others replied, the only thing I won't use are those poison blocks. My dog ate a whole box of them when he was a puppy and we almost lost him. Not worth the risk. I had them on a tall shelf in the garage and someone that shall remain unnamed temporarily moved them to a lower location. That's all it took for me to spend 4 hours at the Vet ER.

I keep a rat zapper plugged in and left next to the open under sink cabinet door. I figure when they get in, and they do get in, they follow plumbing holes and come right out to the zapper. I try to check it every couple of days. Got 4 mice so far this year. In the winter when I am no longer plugged in, I switch to a battery operated rat zapper.

Yesterday, I got a new weber Q 2200 so I was taking my old weber q out of the basement of my 5er, and I noticed mouse poop in the grill. I looked at the floor in the front compartment, and they ate the tin tray that collects the grease. I was shocked. Ive never had mice in the summer, and I usually do a good job sealing things up for the winter with dryer sheets and steel wool. So I ended up purchasing some ultrasonic sound rodent repellents on Amazon Prime so I can plug in the basement and inside the RV. Hopefully they work. These are the ones I purchased.

Ok I just put in the website and all the rest got posted. How does that happen? Up in Adirondacks second day mice turds every where outside. Got this stuff and did not see another turd for two months there
