No AC power with battery connected

Hi. I am at a camp site and I can not get AC power with the battery disconnect switch on to the battery.

That means I can not run the refrigerator.

Any ideas as to what may be wrong or what I may be doing wrong.

Running off a Yamaha generator for the first time.

Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. No lights either. Or stereo

Check all circuit breakers Turn them off and then back on. As sometimes a breaker may not look like it is tripped.

Also check the generator to see if anything needs to be reset since its the first time you are using it

Also would be a good idea to carry a Multi-Meter with you in the future

Checked them all. None were tripped but I cycled them anyway. Thanks for the input.

The generator manual suggests restarting. I did that and I know I am getting AC power since I am working on the computer inside the camper to write this message.

Just does not work if I turn the switch for the battery on.

I am guessing something is not wired properly or shorted out. I can turn the battery switch on and it works for about 30 seconds, then I lose AC power.

I'm lost Fairenatic.
You're at your site with your shore cord plugged into your new yamahas. You don't have AC if you turn the disconnect ON? But if you shut it off you have AC?
And what happens when your shore cord is plugged into the power post?

The disconnect has nothing to do with AC. And to take your converter out of the mix just shut the breaker to the converter off.

Correct for both first questions.
I am boondocking. I have no shore power. Purely generator power for AC.

The power outlet behind the TV

I even tested the microwave and it works. And that is quite a load so it is not a load issue IMO.

I take it your RV is wired for 50 amp service What type of receptacle's are on the generator and what kind of adaptors are you using

It seems several things will not work without DC.

The Air Condition\fans, the refrigerator, the stereo, the lights, or the water pump.

The fireplace works too.

Correct. I have 50 amp service but I am using an adapter to take it down to 110 AC.

From the sounds of it You don't have the correct adaptor for the generator to run a 50 amp RV service

Does the Generator have a 240 volt receptacle on it.

No. To ramp it up to 30 amps, you use a dedicated cable that connects to two generators together.

Like I said, I have AC power. Just can not use it with the battery disconnect switched on. I should be able to.

Try using only one generator.
This is making no sense at all.. The 12volt side doesn't touch the 120v side at all.

I just turned the breaker for the power converter off, and now everything SEEMS to working just fine. It has only been a minute or two, but I will provide an update in a few minutes to see if that fixes the problem.

Weird.

And, I have only been running off one generator all this time. I do not have the "sidewinder" cable. Have not been able to locate it.

It somewhat makes sense I think he is trying to use the two generators but he is only supplying 115 volts to the RV he needs 240Volt RV service Sounds like he is only powering one side of the 240 50 Amp plug

Somewhere a while back there were wiring diagrams posted on how the 240 Volt 50 amp service is configured

Do you have your battery connected properly? It would have blown you power converter reverse fuse. But 110 volt and 12 volt are different circuits and should have nothing to do with the problem you're having. Fridge need 12 volt in order to function as does the furnace.
