Norcold Fridge on Propane Problem
I have a 2011 256BKS with an issue when the Norcold fridge is on propane. When I switch to gas or remove shore power the green and yellow led flash indicating a propane gas problem. I have tried the procedure for removing air in the lines detailed in the owners manual and still have the problem. The furnace, stove and water heater on propane work OK. With the fridge I can hear the igniter fire but don't see any flame or feel any heat from it. I think it might be a defective solenoid that operates the valve that allows the gas to reach the fridge. Is there anything else I can try we are on the rode trying to avoid taking the trailer to a Jayco dealer.

If you need this fixed before other members have a chance to reply, know that if you are on the road and not near a Jayco dealership, Jayco will authorize you to go to a repair facility near your current location. When you do find out what's wrong, please come back and let us know how it goes

I have no answers but I thought this may get more attention in the tech talk forum. Welcome to JOF and hopefully this is a minor issue.

I have noticed this on my rig when going from AC to gas. All I did to correct it is turn the fridge to off and back on. It recycled it self and works normally.
Hope it does not cause you big delays.
edit: This is a new check item for us when leaving or setting up. On our old rig w/ a Dometic, it always transferred without any human intervention. I don't know if this is problem or not cause it does not always fail to transfer.

Try the turn fridge off and wait a few seconds then turn it back on... do this 3 or 4 times to see if it will "catch"

The problem was caused by a kink in the flex hose underneath the bump out. I had a site visit by a tech from an RV repair business and he removed the ties unkinked the flex hose and re-tied the hose. Fridge works fine. If you need help and can't get to a dealer I would recommend R&D RV Repair if your in the Mansfield Tx area. It is a one man operation and the owners name is Ron.

Glad you found the problem. Was the propane line kinked?

Curious how he unkinked it. My water heater gas line has a little kink in it where it comes through the floor. It is working fine, but bothers me. I have thought about messing with it but I was afraid I would stress it and it would break.

Had same problem on mine, what happened is the propane line follows a "C" channel, where the "C" channel pivots I have what looks like a spring over the propane hose. The spring moved in the "C" channel and when the slide came in it kinked the propane hose at the pivot point. I opened up the slide and moved the spring so that it was centered on the pivot point and took 2 springs, ran them around the "C" channel and hooked them on each end. never had a problem since. Hope this helps Ernie

So is this a hose that gets kinked or a copper line?

Crabman, it is a hose, the spring that is over the flex hose moves around and if it moves to far , when the slide closes the "c" channel closes and kinks the flex line. I think that this is only on trailers that have the fridge in a slide. Ernie

Thanks Parcany. You sure would not want to get a hole in that hose!
