Norcold Refrigerator draws 300 watts all the time on AC power

I just purchased a 2010 Jayco G2 25RKS and I have a question in regards to the Norcold Refrigerator.

When plugged into power at my home this unit runs almost all the time drawing approx 300 watts of power. Is this normal??

Any opinions are appreciated..

I think there is a chart in the owner's materials for new Jayco's that lists typical current draw for all electrical appliances--don't have my materials here at home but maybe someone can confirm or refute my conjecture.

The chart sam referred to is near the very back. At least that's where it is in the Jayflight manual.

Remember that RV fridges don't have compressors that cycle on and off. They continuously heat the water/ammonia mixture to keep the gas cycle going. That chart will tell you if your draw is normal.

Sam and Bruce are right, you may even find some of the info you're looking for in your owners manual. Granted the owners manuals often are a bit generic but many times what you want to know can be found in the "Specs" section. Worth a look anyway....

Look at the data tag on the refer, it should show how much the unit draws. 300 Watts sounds right.

I recently had an issue with our Norcold Fridge ('02 31FKS Designer TT) and pulled out the manual when I was there yesterday. I did find some very informative information by "reading" a few paragraphs. I was hoping to find pictures, since I work with them better that text. But after thinking I was out of luck, I found a "description" of the operation I was curious about.
I still think a picture of how its "suppose" to look would have helped me, but the text did a fairly good job of drawing a picture for me.

If you know your model number for the Fridge that might help with searching for the manual online. But sometimes that doesn't pan out.

For example: today when I was checking the tire pressure of our units tires (4 Marathon Radail 225/75R 15" D Trailer Tire) the recommended tire pressure that is printed on the tire is barely ledgible. I thought it said 65psi. To be sure, since I had borrowed an excellent portable air compressor from a neighbor that would cover me up to 120psi, I wanted to know what I was doing.
I tried the Jayco Manual but I may have missed the tire pressure recommendations.
I pulled out my iPhone, did a "Google" search in Question form (?) and asked it the recommend PSI.
Ta-Da ..... 65psi (cold)

Thats only 2.5 amps.. Did you measure just the fridge? or is that what the whole trailer is drawing?
