Place to buy RV stuff without taxes

and preferably without shipping either.

Camping World charges me both.

Need regulator, hoses, sewer kit, etc.

I'm not sure if you'll be able to buy anything, even on-line, without paying taxes. Most on-line retailers like Amazon and Wal-Mart are now charging tax, but still ship for free (if you meet the minimum dollar amount.) The only exception that I know of would be if you order on-line from a retailer who does not have a brick & mortar store in your State.

I found one. E Trailer.com They are out of Missouri so no sales tax.

AND, no shipping charges for orders over $99.

Here is what I ordered. I thought they were very reasonable and I called to verify stock. Glad I did.

They also ship UPS if the weight is over 7 pounds.

All in all, it was a very smooth transaction and I do not feel I overpaid.

Hope this helps.

P.S. The bigger retailers like WalMart have establishments in every state so not surprised there. I think Amazon does too but taxes depend on who is shipping and from where. It pays to shop around. Taxes and shipping can add up.

Amazon is my go too, as well. I have an Amazon Prime account and it worth every penny.

But, if you are buying multiple items, you may or may not come out ahead. You wind up buying from multiple vendors and that takes time, adds risk, and may not save you any money in the end.

Amazon is charging state tax in Texas. Started 2-3 years ago IIRC.

Amazon just started charging state sales taxes in SC this year. They had some type of legal exemption before.

I have a Walmart about a half-mile from my home, and use their free shipping for in-store pickup all the time, especially for camping/RV gear. No minimum amount, either. I just got a 'plug' for the open end of the hitch receiver box on my TV. Paid a whopping $4.88 including sales tax. Free delivery for in-store pickup. Love it, and don't have to pay for Amazon Prime.

I use in store shipping when it is available but they always charge sales tax.

+1 on E-Trailer. They have great service in my experience. I ordered some mirrors from them a couple years ago...

ETA: I'm a verified Amazon junkie. Seriously. I have a problem.

I like E-trailer as well, but I also compare their prices and shipping time with Amazon. And, often times, Amazon ships the quickest.

RVugrades.com is another on-line store to look at. Not sure if they charge tax or not, but orders over $99 is free shipping.

Here's a couple other places you can check out:
PPL

Dyers RV Parts & Accessories

Hmmm, Houston to Oregon. I don't think that makes strict economic sense when trying to avoid sales tax. A really fun trip perhaps, but I'd rather pay my 8.25%.

PPL is based in Houston so they will charge state tax, same with Tweety's (Dallas area).

If they have a physical location of any type in your state most likely you will be paying state tax. If you order from someone out of state that has no locations in your state there should be no sales tax. Amazon did not use to charge tax here in Va. but since building a dist center here now they do.

Same thing happened in TX. It may have changed, but it used to be that if the item was shipped from a dist center/warehouse within the state, there was tax collected. Shipped from out of state dist center/warehouse, no tax. That may have changed though. It seems Amazon would have had to negotiate that provision specifically. Sales tax is based on "nexus" and the case was made that Amazon has "nexus" in TX especially when they opened up a distribution center inside the state.

Yeah, I checked those too. I bought my EMS from the latter.

Looks like E Trailer is the winner for us Texas boys.

Keep them coming though. Always good to have options and to compare pricing.

Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon charge no sales tax.
NH is close to us. Camping World is on the border just outside of North Conway.. Nothing close to Texas.
