propane cap?

I pull the propane tanks off my TT when it goes in storage and the female hose end connectors remain exposed 11 months out of the year. Does anyone cap off the hose end connectors or am I just paranoid? I know certain insects are attracted to the smell of natural gas and propane so should I be worried about them getting into the orfice at the connector? I searched around on Google for a bit but didn't see a male cap that would thread on when the tank is not in place.

When you find one, let me/us know. I've been looking for one for 2 years. I have thought about contacting a propane dealer to see if I could get an old tank valve I could modify or cutoff.

I have used a plastic baggy and tape to keep the ends clean.

I might try a balloon over the connector. My dad told me they used to put condoms over the end of their rifle barrels in Viet Nam...I'm going to avoid that conversation with my kids and try the balloons.

Check with a shop that makes propane fittings and recertifies older tanks. Last year I bought a manifold to connect multiple items to 11 pound tank. While there getting some hoses, I inquired about caps for the manifold. They had lots of choices, for both the male and female ends of my hose and manifold. So they may have ones for the TT connector.
