Propane problem- HELP me out

We are experiencing a problem with the propane delivery system and I would appreciate any advice and/or experience y'all have- First, our supplemental wall heater quit- The tech discovered the auto switchover valve was apparently not operating properly so we had it replaced- When I cracked the propane bottle valve on the drivers side, I heard a humming sound apparently from the secondary valve in the propane line and the tech told me propane was leaking out of the pigtail on the curb side which had no propane bottle attached as that bottle was being refilled- In all my 50 or so years with a camper, I have never had a problem such as this- It has been my experience that an unattached pigtail should not leak when the regulator shows the valve is open to the bottle that is hooked up- Does the humming sound indicate a failure of the secondary valve? THANX in advance for your input! DD

Guessing that the humming, might be the valve trying to flip over to the alternate side. Usually the valve has three positions, manual on left, manual on right, and auto switch center.

Try moving the control to the side that has the tank ( manual right or left position) ie.. Not center or straight up and down

Put your thumb over the exposed pigtail end with the tank turned on.. you will feel it if propane is coming out ..

I will post the outcome of our efforts to solve the problem when we are successful- THANX for the suggestions and opinions- I feel that I am as qualified as the "techs" who worked on the problem- Changing out parts till you find the answer doesn't seem a very professional way to "fix" a problem- JMHO- DD

If they didn't blow out everything before assembly some rust flakes or metal chips might be making valves stick. Anything is possible so start checking step by step till you find the culprit spot.
