Range Hood Outside Vent

I have a 2012 31.5RLTS SuperLite fifth wheel. I have tried to open the outside vent for the range hood and I have no idea how to open the vent. My dealer said to push up on the two buttons. That does not appear to work. This is the new style that does not have the little sliders that flip over the vent flap. It has what looks like two buttons on the bottom of the vent. I looked in all of my documentation but did not find any directions on how to open the new style outside range hood vent. Does anyone know how to open this vent?

Thanks.

I have the same type range vent and it is a pain to open I have to push up on one tab then pry out at bottom with my fingers then go to other side and do same thing. It's getting better but still hard to open also it's so high I have to stand on a short ladder to reach it and some times it is just as hard to close.

I sort of figured that was the case because when the dealer was showing me how to open it he just explained it to me and never actually opened the vent. Thanks.

Update from Jayco:
hank you for taking the time to contact us here at Jayco. Actually
your dealer is correct. There are 2 push tabs on the bottom of the vent
door. You may have to put a little more pressure on the tabs then you
have but they should open the vent door. Especially the first couple of
times they do loosen up as you use them.
Thanks again for contacting us. If we can be of service to you again
in this or other ways in the future, please feel free to contact us
again.

Sincerely,
Tony Bontrager

We have the same minor issue on our 2011 26RLS. Just seems there would be an easier system.

There was an easier system. They used to just have a couple of screen latches that slide over the flap. Now that I have opened it for the first time hopefully it will be better than the old system.

Send a message via Skype™ to Rob Church
I was amazed how hard it was to open, my thumbs are bruised. Hoping is loosens up over time.

Squirt a spray of silicone on both latches. It gets easier with time.

They are a pain to open, but as others have said, it gets easier with time.

+1, until the wind starts blowing and the wife complains because it's flapping, then I just latch the fwd one.
