Personally, I would see if the tire manufacturer will replace the tire under warranty.

That's great but who would want another set?

Yah, but the OP started he really did not want to spend the money right now.

This gets him through until the cash flow is a bit better.

Yeah, I considered trying to warranty them, but no, I do not want another set of the Blow Maxes. So if the warranty was to replace the tire for the exact same tire, I would pass and say "thanks, but no thanks".

I could spend the money, it's not like I don't have it, and it's not that money is particularly tight, it's just that I don't want to. When you get down to it, I'm pretty cheap, so spending money on stuff like this (even if I technically have it to spend) isn't entirely fun, even though I recognize that it's necessary. So instead of getting the windows in my truck tinted for my birthday, I get to buy new tires for the trailer.

It's life, no big deal, I'll just roll with it. (see what I did there? )

Haven't contacted them (yet?). Will post an update when/if that happens. Life has gotten in the way, and no trips planned, so this project has made it to the back burner for now.

I bought 2013 Eagle in summer 2013. We have been on several trips in 2014 and 2015. I had a blowout of a Towmax that shattered the tire. Put the spare on and made it home. I went to Plaza Tire Service to have all 4 tires replaced. While tech was taking tires off the other side, one of the tires was obviously "taller" than the other tire. Tech was surprised that tire didn't blow too. They installed Summit ST Trailer tires, E range. My rig seems to pull and corner a lot better than it did before.

Replace em all?

Happy (belated?) Birthday Camper Bob. I say just go ahead and treat yourself to tinting your truck windows... No trips planned so let the tires stay on the back burner a little longer bud...

Update: Caught the $100 off deal on Discount Tire Direct on EBay. Placed the order over the weekend, tires are shipping and should be here Thursday. Upgraded to same size tire in 10 ply rated LR E instead of LR D; wheels are good to go on the higher load range. I'll need to figure out if I can put the entire trailer on jacks and take all 4 for simultaneous mounting on the rims or whether I only have the equipment to do one side at a time. I may try to do a wet bolt upgrade at the same time (not sure if budget committee will clear the funds given the recent tire purchase) but I'm still researching.

Hopefully by this time next week I'll be back in business!

Never did contact Jayco about it... I'm just gonna do it right on my own and move on.

Thanks! My birthday isn't until week after next, but DW and DS were earlier this month, so money is moving out at a pretty good clip!

Edit: oops, my birthday is next week already! Geez! What happened to the time?!

New tires landed on the porch today (a day early). Now it's just a matter of finding time to have them mounted on the rims.

I think your leaving money on the table in not contacting them. I was given a allowance for whatever brand I wanted.

I should be considering this as well. The Goodyear Marathons that came on our trailer are closing in on 4 years old now but showing no signs of anything and only 1500 miles on 'em. [We camp mostly local]. Mine are "D" rated too and when I replace them it will be with an "E" rated tire. I'm at the crossroads of replacement and I hate the "crapshoot" of towing down the highway and waiting for one to blow as it's happened to us before with our previous camper. BTW, Happy Birthday

Update: Had 4 tires dismounted from my trailer, new tires mounted and balanced to rims, metal valve stems installed, remounted to trailer, old tires disposed of all for $84. Took them about 30 minutes front to back, so I did it while I was on my way to do some other chores this weekend. Seemed reasonable for what I had done, and now I don't have to worry about it.

Still going to contact Jayco. I tried before, but got hold of some bad contact info, so the email bounced. Been too busy with work to think or do much with this project, but all that should loosen up next week and give me some time to chase this all down...

We shall see... But for now, I have good tires on my trailer, so I'm good to go down the road again without worrying too much about the tires!

Update:

Jayco stepped up on this one. I replaced the tires last Fall when I caught a deal on E-Bay. Took pics, documented my experience, etc. I didn't keep the old Towmax tires, I let the tire shop where I had the new ones mounted dispose of them properly. I emailed Jayco a little while after I had the new tires mounted, and told them what happened and asked if there was anything they could do for me. They emailed back a couple weeks later (this was around the end of the year, before Christmas) asking for pictures and a copy of the invoice for the new tires. The rep said they would "look at it and see if there was any remuneration available".

I didn't hear anything, kind of wrote it off actually. My trailer was no longer under warranty, so I just figured it was over and done with. I talked to my dealer at the RV show in January, and he didn't seem too confident I would ever hear anything from Jayco, and verified there wasn't much he could do for me.

Yesterday I received a check in the mail from Jayco for the the full purchase price of the new Maxxis tires! TOTALLY blew me away! Given my experience so far with Jayco, I don't think there's much chance I'll be buying a trailer or MH from someone else!

That's been my experience with Jayco. Going the extra mile for issues. I am like you, when and if I get the itch again it will be tough to lure me away based on my experience with Jayco.

Glad it worked out. It does pay to ask!

That's absolutely right! The worst they can say is "no" (which is what I expected anyway), and I haven't lost anything by asking.

This is actually the fourth item on this trailer that's been covered that I thought "no way they'll cover that". Between my dealer and Jayco, I'm very well taken care of IMO.

May I ask who your dealer is?

Sure! My dealer is Crestview RV Superstore in Schertz, TX. It's part of a group of 3 dealerships; one in Schertz, one in Buda, and one in Georgetown. Steve Spearing is the GM there in Schertz (and part owner of the company IIRC?), and has always been great to work with in my experience.

I probably could have gotten a better price elsewhere, but given how I've been treated, it's not worth it to me. I'd rather pay a little more and have a dealer I can count on when I need help.
