I had a 4-wheeler that would run similar. It would fire up, run for a minute then not start. Fast forward an hour or so, and it would fire up perfectly, run for a bit then not start again. Turns out that there was a slight obstruction in the gas line/float. So it appeared that the float was working and the engine had fuel, but once the float bowl ran dry it wouldn't start again until it was able to re-fill. Ended up having to run a thin copper wire up where the float valve sealed against the fuel supply.
