replace generator

I have a 1998 Jayco Eagle 28G with a generac np36g generator. The generator started and ran for a few minutes then quit. Now it will not start. Thinking about replacing with a different one. The generac has an electric ignition and there is a button inside the motorhome from which I could start it.
Problems in doing this?

I had a old Winnebago with a remote start button on the dash. I used it from time to time. It had a small panel with lights to show when it was running.

No good if the genny would not start though.

I am not sure. That is what our mechanic is going to start with. Changing spark plugs and cleaning the carb.

I had a 4-wheeler that would run similar. It would fire up, run for a minute then not start. Fast forward an hour or so, and it would fire up perfectly, run for a bit then not start again. Turns out that there was a slight obstruction in the gas line/float. So it appeared that the float was working and the engine had fuel, but once the float bowl ran dry it wouldn't start again until it was able to re-fill. Ended up having to run a thin copper wire up where the float valve sealed against the fuel supply.

Probably can be done. Might be easiest to buy a Honda generator, and place it next to the unit. In reality I bet it is the fuel.

What do you use for fuel? If just regular unleaded pump gas, I bet the issue is varnish in the fuel system. Modern ethanol gas is terrible, it goes bad in about 3 months. I only run non oxygenated (ethanol free) fuel in my small engines and old cars. The fuel lasts a lot longer, and the engines do not require tuneup as often.

Have you checked the oil level? Some generators have a low-oil sensor that will shut off the engine if oil level is low. I don't know if your Generac has that feature, but many models do.
