Roof membrane patch material request
Well, I put a small nick in the roof membrane yesterday as I placing an extension ladder on the side of the TT to install a Max-Air vent cover. The nick is about ¼” long right on the edge between the transition from the horizontal flat to the vertical edge.
I could caulk it, but long term I’m sure there is a better fix.
Any tips on the proper fix?

If its pretty small, Id just coat it with Dicor lap sealant and just re-check it every year as part of regular maint. Never had to use a actual patch so I cant reccomend any sorry.

Buy an Eternabond Leak Repair Kit. I had a tree limb fall on my rubber roof and put about a half-inch cut in it. The kit made for an easy repair. This happened back in 2008. The patch is still there and I expect it (and the trailer) to be here for a long time. I think it will be a race to see which lasts longer.

What is the shelf life of Etenabod? A small 6”x6” patch costs about $7 less than a 4”x5’ roll. I am thinking about a roll for future issues.

A roll is on order. Until it arrives I have a piece of white electrical tape over the nick, to keep out the rain (what rain???).
Thank you very much.

I agree with getting the roll. You never know when you may need it.

Question here.....you say "when you replace your caulking", does caulking get replaced or simply gone over with more caulking? I can't really see removing all the caulking and putting down new. My TT is not even a year old yet, could I simply apply the tape over the top of the present caulking?

The techies say to remove the old.. I have so far just been putting new over old but at some point will have to remove it all and when I do it will be the eternabond tape replacement..
