RV springs squeek...ideas?

My fiver (as well as my previous one) has squeeky springs. When pulling through the campground it sounds like I'm hauling a couple of old box spring mattresses. My rig looks great but doesn't sound so great. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Old timers squirt brake fluid but now days there is likely some specialty spray.

You could do a wet bolt mod and upgrade. That gets rid of the squeaks for sure.

I agree, go with a "wet bolt" (shackle bolts) upgrade kit. The OEM shackle bolts use a thin wall plastic bushing, when that starts to wear then one experiences a metal-to-metal condition...., and the shackles start to deteriorate (bolt clearance hole through the shackle elongates).

A wet bolt upgrade comes with bronze bushings, plus now you can grease them. Also, the kits come with a heavier duty shackle as well.

I installed a wet bolt kit in my TT a number of years ago, no noise and no wear to-date.

Mmmmm. I never thought about the squeeking coming from the shackle bolts. Wet bolts are on my "upgrade list" for next year. Maybe I'll have to move it to this year. Thanks guys for the info!

I once had a trailer that squeaked like crazy. I tried a few things, but what worked best was to drag the nozzle of a pump oil can along the edges/seams of the spring stacks to add a little lube. I've been using my old pump oil can like that on all my leaf springs since.

I apply the oil when over gravel or other places where a drip of oil isn't critical. It doesn't take much oil, but some always seems to drip off a bit.

FWIW. vic

Hey Rustic,
Where did you get the wet bolt upgrade kit? I know NOTHING about suspensions; how do I know what size or type to get. Thanks in advance.
