Slide Question

Spoke to a fellow with an older Designer who was told his Slide utilized wood and was pretty heavy, so he should not leave it extended for more than several days at a time. Doesn't sound right to me. But since we plan on spending a month or more with both of ours extended, and they are no longer wood framed, is that any concern at all?

If that was the case, it would be clearly stated in the owners manual. For peace of mind you could get the portable adjustable stabilizer jacks.

Our slides are out more than they are in. In Az they are out for 6 months at a time with no problem. You can buy slide stabilizers but just remember that if your slides are blocked/braced and the trailer moves with wind gusts or just walking that the slide seals will be moving a lot. If your trailer was up off the wheels on blocks then blocking the slides would make some sense. Just my opinion.

All RV dealers I have dealt with say to never put jacks under your slide outs because there is possibility of damaging the slide arms if the RV rocks around for some reason. Slide out mechanisms are made to handle the weight even with people. They must have some flexibility so they don't bind or bend, etc.

Agreed, what you all said, expecially about slide supports. Any settling could cause a big problem.

DO NOT EVER USE THE PORTABLE STABILIZERS... more people damage their slideouts with those than help them.. Mine is out for 5.5 months at a time with no problems
