Slide seal lube

Never having a slide, I would like some opinions on what works best on the slide seals to protect them. Auto or special rv chemical?

At the Jayco rally a few years ago the service manager said to use baby powder or talcum powder on the slide seals. He did not recommend the use of any chemicals. He commented that the seals come to Jayco from the manufacturer with powder on them to keep them in good shape.

MHO on talc. It's there to keep the rubber from sticking to itself during shipping. I've seen rubber items shipped like that also.
The weather will wash off the talc pretty quick. I'd lean towards a rubber protectant.
NOT Armor All!
NOTHING w/ petroleum in it!
Maybe silicone, maybe bear/pig lard (maybe).

Being around guys with hot rods and old muscle cars, along with trying to keep my 95 Lebaron conv. in one piece you think about those things. One thing I had considered was the John Deere rubber cleaner and protectant a soybean based
product. Thanks for the ideas!

I just was reading my owners manual and was going to ask a question about lubing the slides when I found this thread. The manual didn't mention the seals. Wonder why not. It did have this caution.

"This system contains a pre-lubed bearing that is lubricated when the room is
moved in and out. Do not spray oil or grease on the rails while the room is extended."

X5 303 is very good stuff. I use it all around the house, boat and the tt. Works great on rubber roofs also.
