Slide Seal Sealing...We'll See!
Recently installed new slide out outer wiper seal on our Granite Ridge 3100 SS. After reading several methods and "tips" I decided to run a bead of clear silicone sealant around the entire seal where it "snugs up" to the frame flange after it was installed. This is to prevent or discourage moisture from getting in and causing the metal clamp strip to rust. Rust was the cause of our original seal from pulling loose.
I noticed the factory only sealed this area at and about a foot from the corners.
Now that it has turned frigid here I have been wondering if that will hinder whatever natural movement the seal would make for contraction and expansion due to temp extremes.
What's your opinion or experience?
